Edith Dorsen

Investor Advisor

Founder & Managing Director of Women’s Venture Capital Fund

Edith Dorsen is a Co-Founder of Women’s Venture Capital Fund and the Managing Partner of its successor, WomensVCFund ll. At a time when there was  little interest in women entrepreneurs, Edith and  her team recognized the capital gap existing for female founders and  launched the Women’s Venture Capital Fund-- driven by the belief that leadership diversity is a major competitive advantage. It was the first VC fund in the country  to focus on Series A stage companies in which senior leadership includes both women and men. Based on the success of its first fund, WomensVCFund ll closed in late 2017. www.womensvcfund.com

The Funds invest in Series A and B stage companies that have previously raised significant angel capital, developed their core technology, and are demonstrating revenue traction across Enterprise SaaS, Educational Technology and Consumer Internet.
Portfolio companies include Nvoicepay, Newsela, HopSkipDrive, The Riveter, ProSky, Work Truck Solutions, The Dyrt and - most recently - Aclima.

From the launch of its first fund, WomensVCFund has sought to not just invest in early stage high potential companies with inclusive leadership but to be a catalyst in expanding the dialogue about diversity and the systemic issues that persist in our ecosystem.

Prior to venture capital, Edith was a management consultant at McKinsey, an investment banker at Salomon Brothers, and head of international business development at Physicians’ Online and Children’s Television Workshop. She holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and an MPA from the Kennedy School of Government.
